Little things that make a big difference
If you’ve had binoculars for years, as many of us have, you know that lens covers are a great idea. They help protect your investment. But lens covers aren’t always what you want them to be. They can fall off, get stuffed in pockets, go through the laundry, get left behind and lost, or are just ill-fitting from the get-go and awkward to use. We can help! After-market tethered objective lens covers can be obtained from Eagle Optics (see Binocular Accessories). All you need to do is measure the objective lens end of the binocular barrel, including the outside of the rubber armoring. Match it to the measurements listed for the various sizes of lens covers on our site. If you need help, just call us.
Something new and different in the world of lens covers is the new Vortex Flip Cap Cover, pictured here. With its 1” rubber collar and snap-shut plastic lid, this is a lens cover for the ages, folks. There are five sizes to fit most binoculars. The spring-loaded cap flips up and closes with a satisfying click. The snug, solid fit ensures these covers won’t drop off in the field. It’s a nice alternative to those lens covers you love to hate! Find the fit by measuring as you would with our tethered lens covers; they’re sold individually, so be sure to order two. Try ‘em–I think you’ll love ‘em!
